The Alliance Secretariat is supporting its members by providing additional capacity, expertise, and resources through several programs and initiatives.
The Alliance Secretariat regularly convenes Working Groups to deepen member collaboration, share lessons and best practices, and provide services and tools to help members advance high-impact action across our 10 policy priorities.
The Alliance Secretariat leads two programs to build state climate capacity: the Technical Assistance Fund, which provides demand-driven technical and policy support to help Alliance members overcome barriers and drive transformative climate action, and the Climate Leadership Grant Program, which bolsters state-level staff capacity to help Alliance members advance climate priorities, deploy federal funds, and take durable and equitable climate action.
The Alliance is forging a strong state-federal partnership to deliver on the promise of new federal laws, deploy historic climate investments successfully, and inform federal policies, programs, and actions.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) represent a once-in-a-generation opportunity to turbocharge state-led climate action and reduce emissions. The Alliance Secretariat is working closely with members to ensure the new funding is deployed effectively, efficiently, and equitably, while also informing the design and implementation of the laws’ new grants and programs.
The Alliance Secretariat is committed to advancing climate action across government through collective, targeted engagement with the federal government. This includes providing detailed recommendations on federal programs, policies, and regulations, as well as bringing top officials from Alliance states and territories together with the federal government to collaborate on, scale up, and inform innovative climate solutions.
