Policy Advisor, Just Transition & Equity

Hanna Khalil is the U.S. Climate Alliance’s Policy Advisor for Just Transition & Equity. Hanna brings deep experience facilitating collaborative, multistakeholder initiatives that champion equitable climate solutions on the state, federal, and international levels. Before joining the Alliance, Hanna served as a Senior Associate at Kearns & West, a leading public engagement firm, where she advised state and federal agencies in elevating environmental justice priorities and equitable and inclusive engagement strategies, especially related to the clean energy transition.

 

Prior to this role, Hanna served as a Ruckelshaus Fellow at Meridian Institute, where she fostered collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, environmental justice coalitions, donors, and private sector leaders through a wide range of projects primarily focused on food and land use reform and deforestation-free supply chains. There, she spearheaded the Just Rural Transition Initiative’s efforts to center land rights and social equity within the global food systems transformation agenda, and organized a dialogue on food systems resilience at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26). Hanna holds a Bachelor of Arts in International and Area Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.
