States, which have varying needs and capacity, will utilize and share best practices to bolster resilience and tailor effective solutions.

Arizona Releases Extreme Heat Preparedness Plan and Names Chief Heat Officer

Following a record-breaking heat wave in August 2023, Arizona Governor Kate Hobbs unveiled the state’s Extreme Heat Preparedness Plan in March 2024. Governor Hobbs also appointed the nation’s first chief heat officer, who will lead a whole-of-government approach to combat extreme heat in Arizona.
An update to the 2018 version, the 2021 Governors’ Climate Resilience Playbook outlines 12 foundational steps to set and achieve an effective state-level climate resilience agenda.
